The MP said he was passing by on that road when he saw the baby on the water without thinking about whether it was a doll or a baby, he rushed to help.
The MP was in Podgorica as part of the monitoring mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on the day of the presidential elections in Montenegro.
Debrane has shown dramatic moments of getting the baby out of the water of the Moraca River.
He was holding it up. I don't know what I've done, I don't know how, but the kid's saved, when the water came out of the organs, then he opened his eyes. I went to the ambulance, to us it seemed like a lifetime, it's minutes, when I saw that woman, one minute we saw what was going on, there's babies or dolls. When he started giving a sound, I just wanted to give him oxygen, and at that moment I didn't think of anything. I've spoken to the government in Montenegro, with the head of parliament, I haven't talked to my parents yet, they've shown me what it's like. It's a boy, it's been two months, so far, they're hoping he didn't get hurt”, Debrani told “Albania Live”.
