Meet Pepper Xey, the most burning pepper in the world

Guinness World Records announced that it had replaced the Carolina Ready. Both varieties were created by the same person, Ed Currie, according to Sky News. 

Pepper X has been an obsession for decades where it took his maker 10 years to get there.

It's a combination of a Carolina Reader and what Currie mysteriously classifies as a “specific that a friend of mine sent me from Michigan, which was very intense”.

I felt the burn for three and a half hours”,Said Mr. Currie, one of only five people so far has eaten an entire Pepper X.

“Those cramps are terrible. I lay about an hour in the rain, groaning in pain. ”

Pepper X is green and yellow with a scent of soil.

The pepper substance called capaicia is what causes the sensation of burning when eaten.

The heat in peppers is measured in Scoville heat units, a degree based on the concentration of capaicine.

Zero is soft and a regular jalapeno pepper registers about 5,000 units. A habanero, record holder about 25 years ago, usually exceeds 100,000, and the Guinness World Records Book ranks Caroline Reaper in 1.64 million units.

Pepper X's record averages 2.69 million units.
