Studies have shown that during cold days people are more homesick than in hot days. Otherwise, warm memories make you feel warmer during the winter season.
What really happens when we become homesick, and why is it good for our mental and physical health?
1. Nostalgia makes us feel more positive about ourselves and the future.
2. Nostalgia makes life more meaningful.
3. Being nostalgic also increases our social interactions.
4. Nostalgia is a kind of feeling that improves our well-being and is completely different from “remembering”, which sometimes makes us feel bad.
Nostalgia is a way to view the past with merchandise and no comparisons.
When we consider important events of life that make us nostalgic, we give more value to our lives. We reflect on the person we are, about the man we've been to, what we are now in life, or what our life was like five years ago. In contrast, homesickness is a story we tell ourselves, the key to being happy in our daily life.
Don't think you're a nostalgic all the time because you're just happy with your reality. When you go into this world, you don't compare memories, you just focus on the past and try to relive them.
