The stress and mental health of future parents may be responsible for their baby's emotional problems during childhood, says a new study.
The study drew experiences from 440 first - time fathers and mothers who were followed in 4, 14 and 24 months after birth. These parents were from East England, New York, and the Netherlands. After analyzing future parents, they discovered that the prenal well - being of mothers for the first time had a direct effect on their children's behavior until the children were two years old. Mothers suffering from stress and anxiety during pre - birth periods were more likely to see their child manifest behavioral problems, such as anger, tea, worry, and grief.
Another interesting intervention was the effect of a couple's presidential relationship on their child after birth, especially for partners who face problems with each other, including dissatisfaction, frequent arguments and other conflicts. When their child turned two, he was more likely to develop emotional problems in new situations. These problems resulted from concern, sadness, frequent mourning, and intimidation.
We are finally beginning to see more evidence that promotes the importance of supporting mental health for waiting mothers and young mothers, but this study highlights the need to expand this support to waiting fathers and even the couple's relationships as a whole.
Discussions such as establishing stable finances, finding a good pediatric, dating, babysitter, quickly take priority over your relationship with each other. But all those preparations will be nothing if you and your partner's mental health are not a top priority.
It may sound scary, but it's true.
