Ukraine's president, Voldymyr Zelensky, has told Ukrainians that they “have weathered the Russian occupation's” blow, while urging citizens to continue fighting.

In a speech given by Kiev on Saturday evening, Zelensky said citizens that the time has come for them to launch a response to the attacks.

“You must go out and expel this evil from our cities,” called Zelensky.

The call for organisation came along with a prayer to US President Joe Biden to secure more fighter aircraft for Ukraine.

American officials are believed to be in discussions with political leaders in Poland on the possibility that Warsaw provides Ukraine with a number of MiG combat aircraft.

Poland has begun to use Soviet-era warplanes, and officials are wondering if they will provide them to Ukraine, where pilots are not trained to fly Western production aircraft.

Some reports suggest they could be exchanged for new US-sponsored replacements.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has entered its 11th day, some experts claim the invasion may have stalled in some places despite President Vladimir Putin's insistence Saturday that the “operation is going according to plan”.

While fighting has continued in many parts of the country, Moscow forces have seized only one large Ukrainian city, Kherson has made other key advances, such as the capture of the Zaporizija nuclear power plant on Friday.
