Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, said his state would suspend the exports of wheat, flour, corn and oil from Thursday on March 10th.

“In the last two days, the export of wheat and flour has increased so much that we must stop”, Vuciq said on Tuesday.

Speaking to Serbian television B92, Vuciq said the state would subsidise the derivatives for farmers.

“We will subsidise that the euro-diesel price at all stations of Serbia's Oil Industry remain at least 179 dinars [about 1.5 euros] for at least a month and a half. For all others there will be minimal growth”, Vuciq said.

Vuciq added that Serbia is awaiting the European Union's decision to import energy from Russia.

United States banned him on Tuesday, like Punishment for Russia, which has invaded Ukraine.

What does the US stop in Russian oil mean?

If the decision is to stop importing all energy sources from Russia, then we're in trouble. We have nowhere to get, oil and gas can't fall from the sky”, Vuciq said.

Speaking of the state of Serbia's cargo reserves on March 2nd, Vuciq has said Serbia is prepared for at least the next two months.

Kosovo, during 2021, has imported 84 thousand tonnes of various wheat and flour from Serbia, ranging from 115 thousand tons to total from various countries, such as: Croatia, Austria, Northern Macedonia, Hungary.

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24th, Serbia has upheld Ukraine's territorial integrity, but has not joined the sanctions the EU has imposed against Moscow. / REL
