Chris Rock returned to the stage on Wednesday, for the first time since the day after Will Smith slapped him at the Oscars Award division ceremony.
In the first of his two performances, he was greeted by the public in Boston and applause lasting several minutes touched the comedian. With tears in his eyes, he joked by saying “what was your weekend like?
I'm not going to talk about what happened, so if you're here to hear this, I have a whole show I wrote before those weekends. I'm still processing what happened, so at some point I'll talk. And it'll be serious and it'll be ridiculous, but now I'll tell you some jokes.
The mood actor, currently in his “tournament Ego Death Tour”, followed the performance. He stressed that he is planning to talk more detailed about the incident in Oscars at another point.
Then, referring to the fact that he's been talking to Will Smith since the weekend, Rock said: “I haven't talked to anyone, no matter what you heard of”.
Will Smith publicly apologized to Chris Rock calling his behavior “unacceptable and unforgivable”. The academy said the actor was asked to leave the ceremony after the incident, but refused.
Some sources told Page Six that Rock has never even intended to file a lawsuit against Will Smith.
