Treatments of reproduction with medical assistance are influenced by the age of partners. But if only a wife's age can influence the success or failure of her treatment, her husband's age begins to become a determining factor only when even a wife begins to mature. This was revealed by a coordinated study involving Monza's Clinical Institutes Zucchi and Barcelona's Pompeu Fabra University.
The Study of Over 5,000 Patients
As explained by researcher Mariabeatrice Dal Canto, the study analyzed the volume of jaculat, the concentration of sperm, and progressive mobility of over 5,500 patients aged 25-45 who, between 2015 and 2020, contacted the Monza's Centre for Biogenetic Reproduction for the treatment of assisted reproduction.
Research results have shown that with age growth, mobility and volume significantly diminishes, while concentration of sperm cells remains virtually unchanged.
A wife's age affects her most
Over the years, it has been seen how the chances of success in reproductive treatments with medical help have been greatly reduced when the couple's two members are no longer young. In such cases alone, the quality of sperm becomes a problem and risks compromising treatment.
