In Paris, authorities sparked Basescu, the mayor's headquarters and local administration, with the same blue and yellow colors to also show their support.
Berlin, which represented the front line during the Cold War until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, is sending a clear signal to a free and sovereign Ukraine.
“We are showing our solidarity with the people of Ukraine, with many Ukrainian-rooted berglines, but also with many Russians wanting peace in Russia and Ukraine”, Berlin Speaker Franzinska Giffey said in a statement.
The “they want nothing more than an end to escalation and a peaceful solution to this threatening 911 conflict, she said.
