Russia has launched new air strikes “on a large scale” against Ukraine's energy buildings, causing power cuts nationwide, Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky said.
Ukrainian authorities said that almost 1.5 million households across the country are out of electricity.
But, Zelensky said most of Russia's missiles and drones are falling, replaying a Ukrainian Army statement saying 18 of the 33 missiles released from the air and sea have collapsed on October 22nd.
Of course, we still don't have technical skills to prevent 100 percent of all Russian attacks with rockets and fears. I'm sure we will gradually manage to do this with the help of our partners”, Zelensky said.
Over the past two weeks, Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine's energy stations, water supply systems and other key infrastructure.
Recent attacks have targeted the western city of Hmelnitski and Lutsk, but the city of Uman in central Ukraine.
Hmelnitski, home to 275,000 people before the war began, is without electricity, as local media reported several explosions.
Uman has also lost power, meanwhile, Lutsk has remained partially without power after several attacks hit power stations.
Air strikes have also caused power cuts in Odessa in the south, in Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporija in southeast Ukraine.
The national power company, Ukrenergo, has called on Ukrainians to save the power.
Zelensky said authorities have managed to return electricity supplies to several regions, where the current was cut off due to the attacks.

Meanwhile, in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, authorities have started reducing energy due to the crisis caused by Russian attacks.
Ukrainian officials said at least 40 percent of the country's electricity system has been severely damaged since Russia has intensified attacks on energy infrastructure.
Since October 10th, according to Zelensky, 30 percent of Ukraine's power stations have been destroyed by Russian attacks. / REL
