After a parliamentary session lasting more than 20 hours, Edi Rama was voted into prime minister for the third time after convincing victory in the April elections. In the 17-member cabinet, 12 will be women.
The fight against gender discrimination and domestic violence remains very open and far from victory. There are still discrimination forces and negative energy operating today in our society at the expense of women and girls”, Rama said before MPs voted on his cabinet by 77 votes.
Olta Jaka will continue serving as foreign affairs minister, while the new income -- Deline Ibrahimaj, former director of state tax authorities -- will lead the Ministry of Finance and Economy, broadcast the Express newspaper.
Rama said fighting crime and corruption will be a priority in the third term.
The new government has seen economic growth of about 4 percent on an annual scale after the decline of 3.3 percent last year because of pandemic.
Albania is a NATO member and aims to join the European Union in the future, but the lack of reforms and reluctance by EU members for expansion have slowed the membership process.
