Paris stated that it was discovered only hours before the announcement was made public, reports the BBC.
American President Biden and France's President Macron have now issued a joint statement saying they will launch open talks among the countries they lead.
Biden and Macron spoke on the phone for half an hour Wednesday. They will meet in Europe late next month.
Aucus is widely seen as a pact against the influence of China.
Analysts have described it as the most significant security agreement among the three nations since World War II.
