They generate electrical signals and release chemicals to transmit information. As we age, the white matter deteriorates; as a result, the signal becomes slower or lost.
Because global incidentity of the degenerability is projected to double every 20 years, development of effective strategies to slow down cognitive decline in both the healthy and the unhealthy brain.
Fortunately, there is room to regain the integrity of the white class, whether you are 60 or older. Moreover, improvement or a decline in brain health may occur in a relatively short time. One study showed that a decline in white class integrity may occur during a brief period of just six months in healthy older ones.
What we know about the white material in the brain
There are some encouraging findings on the returnability and slowdown of the aging white class. In a study, Agniszka Burzynska, a professor of neuroscience and human development at Colorado State University at “Fort Collins”, and her colleagues collected images of the brain and made cognitive measurements (recognisive) by a group of men and women in health, sedent (60-9; average age was 65).
They accidentally assigned participants to one of three conditions: walking, dancing or “active control”.
Active control involved exercise designed to improve flexibility, strength, and balance.
The other one involved walking 45 to 60 minutes.
While dancing included choreography combinations that gradually became more challenging.
Participants in all conditions attended three training sessions per week for 24 weeks (about 6 months). Researchers also measured the integrity of white class participants using advanced neuroimature parameters. Brain scans and all cognitive tests were repeated after six months of training programs.
What Research Found
The troops of all participants changed after the completion of the six-month training programme. But did their brains change? The answer depends on the type of exercise that has been practiced.
Even the active and dance control group saw an increase in white matter in the brain. However, the walking group showed the more positive effects compared to the other two groups. The group saw far greater improvements in the subject than in other groups and memory improvements.
What does this mean for brain aging
These results offer much hope. It is amazing that even at a certain age, “the” can be improved through activities that can be done by almost everyone. However, the students were healthy and had no behavior, such as tobacco consumption, a poor diet, sleep deprivation, and so on. Future research will have to confirm these assumptions as well.
