Engel, through a post at '%Titter '%, has said that Vuciq is undermining relations with Israel only to analyse the improvement of relations with Kosovo.
“Israel was right to recognise Kosovo, and I am happy that Pristina placed its embassy in Jerusalem. However, I am deeply disappointed that President Vucic is willing to undermine relations with Israel only for them to analyse the improvement of relations with Kosovo”, he said.
Engel's reaction comes after Balkan Insight Media reported that Serbia's first one is showing reluctance to deploy the diplomatic house in Israel's Jerusalem. According to this article, Vuciq said Serbia will decide when and whether to move the embassy to Jerusalem in accordance with international law and its national interests.
“Israel, meanwhile, has recognised Kosovo, we are consulting with Americans and the EU, and we will act in accordance with international law, but also in accordance with Serbia's interests, and these interests have changed since Israel recognised Kosovo”, Vuciq said in a proposal for media.
Kosovo officially opened its embassy in Jerusalem, just weeks after the establishment of diplomatic relations with the state of Israel on 1 February 2021.
Kosovo became the third post-US and Guatemalan country to open its diplomatic mission in Jerusalem.
