The downloaded RTK Board reacts: Democracy is hit, we'll follow all legal ways

The reaction made to the media says today's parliamentary majority action is illegal.

Today's “Parliamentary majority action in the Kosovo Assembly for the dismissal of the RTK Board is political, antilegal and presents flagrant intervention in the work of public broadcaster”, it is said in response.

In response, it is said that the “decision is a serious blow to democratic values and media freedom”.

The parliamentary majority's adoption of the RTK Board has no actual arguments, except for clear political motive. The current board has been one of the most professional boards, composed of well-known names of the academic field and the media”, the response follows.

Also, the Board of Contents RTK says “will follow all legal ways to counter this arbitrary decision”.

“Bord of RTK calls on local and international organisations dealing with the protection of media freedom to react to this political and arbitrary decision by the parliamentary majority in the Kosovo Assembly”, the response concludes.

Otherwise, Kosovo Assembly deputies have voted in favour of the RTK Board's dismissal.

The Assembly voted in favour of the Board's dismissal for each member separately.
