Two Haitian-Americans claiming to be translators for the team that killed the president are also among the suspects who have been detained by authorities.
A former officer in the Columbia Army, who asked not to be identified, said a mercenary traveling abroad could easily be paid about $2,700 a month, compared to a military salary of about $300 a month, even for soldiers with more years of combat experience.
