President Osmani extends EULEX mandate for another year

In a letter to Mr. Borell, President Osmani has announced that EULEX will be on technical mandate, without executive power and based solely on monitoring, mentoring and counseling, based on the literature of 2018 and requirements submitted by President Osmani in the letter sent on June 14th. The same mandate could be continued for another year, in the event of a positive assessment of the work of this mission by the president of the Republic of Kosovo”, the communique said.
President Osmani has proposed that, on demand and given the needs identified by the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, EU institutions provide expertise, advisory services, as well as financial assistance, on issues related to the reform processes in justice. Also, President Osmani has invited EULEX for technical and advisory support on issues leading up to the Istanbul Convention for preventing and fighting violence against women and domestic violence.
Furthermore, in the letter, President Osmani has reconfirmed the dedication of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to ensure rule of law and rule, the fulfillment of obligations stemming from the SAA and further advancement of co-operation between the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union.
This EULEX mandate is a technical mandate, based exclusively on advisory, mentoring and monitoring role in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.
