Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz has recently been declared regarding the meeting of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti with Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq under dialogue in Brussels.
Kurz said he considers such meetings to be very important so that talks between Belgrade and Pristina can continue.
“They are not simple and we know that. Progress has so far been limited. That is why such meetings are important and I hope that in the near future there will be proper progress. This would be good for citizens and for the entire region. All should have interest in holding such talks”, he said.
Kurz said the way for a solution can only be the one on which both sides will approach each other.
A different solution is not possible. I also talked about it with Miroslav Lajcak, who is an experienced diplomat, as well as former foreign affairs minister. I told him we were available if they needed support. This region is very important for us”, he said, broadcast news.net.
Asked how much Brussels has power in solving this problem, given that the agreement for the Serbian Union of Communities has not been implemented, Kurz said all participants know that constructive talks, which he hopes to lead to a final solution, are the basis for a calmer life in the region, for better economic development and for European integration.
He added that decisions and promises from Brussels must be fulfilled, because according to him the EU otherwise loses credibility and that would be very bad.
Sebastian Kurz has estimated that statements to Serbia for co-operation with Russia and China were unjustified.
Kurz has even stressed that Serbia has made significant progress, which according to him should be comprehensible” with progress on the European road.
Kurz said Serbia, Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq and all leading politicians in this state can be sure of Austria's full support.
“We want all Western Balkan countries to have a European perspective. Especially in Serbia, development is very positive and must be recognised, and should lead to the process of European road. Anything else could lead Europe and the EU to lose credibility in the region. That would be bad if we took into account that this is a region in which many countries in the world have their geopolitical interests”, he said.
Kuz even warned that this “has a lot of risk”.
