Why do we remember certain people as good for our entire lives?

We all keep in our memory moments apart: a clear reminder brings us back to the time when we sat on Grandma's lap telling us the next story. An image of that sympathetic high school teacher understanding how you felt without having to talk about anything, or that first boyfriend crying in front of you while telling you about problems within the family.

Beyond everything that happens to us every day in life, there are people and memories that always bring us back in time. Although they have seemed ordinary and insignificant at the moment, such memories connect us with people who will forever be good “”. Why is that?

Emotionally, they represented what you needed at a critical moment

A simple example. A family has a terrible car accident. Fortunately, everyone was fine, but very shocked. The first man they saw was an elderly man who surely had a house nearby and came out to see what had happened. He said nothing, nothing but stayed with his family until the police and ambulance came. But this image, this man to them, was a soothing presence. The older man for the accident represents the tranquillity and security that things will go well as long as they are alive and see someone in front of them.

So people who are present at the moment when you need more, tend to be perceived as positive and change your view of the world and others around you.

We remember moments with Grandma. The silence that her voice and her behavior forgive, caressing or commitment always makes you think of her as a good person, because that's what results from that relationship. Or that boyfriend who was once touched by family problems. He may have been the first man to change his view of a man and teach you that sensitivity is not weakness.

Back in our early teens. Your room was filled with famous posters that were your idols back then and most likely the most perfect people in the world. The people who inspire you are the ones you will always remember as the best examples.

They offered the right word at the right time

We all have a special memory that you can never forget, even if it was just a moment. A sentence or advice given at the time you needed more, such as to release or solve a problem.

That memory from the first boyfriend can represent the need you have from your current partner right now. The fact that you felt the need to remember that careful high school teacher could be a sign of what's missing in your life right now. We never know what it can (or not) affect others and how long, so tact and empathy are important in any kind of relationship.
