Vilan has said that Israel recognised Kosovo only after pressure from the US, while Professor Ben-Mait has called this statement scandalous. Israeli Ambassador to Belgrade Yahel Vilan has said Israel has recognised Kosovo only because of pressure from the US”, Ben-Mair says.
He therefore called for an intervention by the state of Israel to clarify the situation.
This statement is scandalous; Israel must clarify what this ambassador stated, as this will significantly affect Israel-Kosovo relations. Israeli ambassador cannot refer to Kosovo as Serbia's former province in these types of discussions; Kosovo is an independent state recognised by nearly 100 countries, including Israel. These statements will not help improve relations between Serbia and Kosovo, but only exacerbate the” situation, he added.
