Kosovo Customs General Director Agron Llugaliu said smoking that has been smuggled has been in the amount of around 80 thousand.
Lugaliu has announced that this investigative process began in 2018, where 47 people are under investigation.
“We are here to publish news of an investigative process for Kosovo Customs. A process that began in 2018 for cigarette smuggling. We also deal with customs officials who have misused their official duty. There are 47 suspicious people involved. 16 are in the process of accepting guilt in agreement with the Prosecutor. Nine customs officials have been involved in this smuggling. Smoking has been about 80 thousand pounds. They get the level of damage being done to Kosovo's budget is about 3 million. In addition to smoking, there are other goods”, he said.
As for the developed action, where about 400kg of narcotics were seized, he said he cannot comment because they are instructed by the Prosecution not to reveal information about the process.
