On the US hegemonist map, the South China Sea is considered an important area for protecting its leadership position in the Indo-Peacemaker region and for curbing China. The U.S. Army entered the South China Sea under the flag of “navigational freedom”, but in fact threatens the sovereignty and security of the countries of the region, CMG (CI Media Group) wrote in a comment.

On the one hand, tensions in the region conflict with the will of the countries of the region for the protection of peace and for joint development and do not enjoy popularity. On the other hand, co-operation between China and the ASEAN countries has shown great vigor in the case of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral dialogue mechanism.

Since 2020, China and the ASEAN countries have been co-operating in the fight against COVID-19 and have served as an example for global co-operation in the face of the new coronary.

Meanwhile, both sides also achieved increases in trade and in investment co-operation despite the global economic recession. Both sides became their number one trading partners for the first time. The signing of the Global Regional Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) has also given great boost to the formation of the common fate community China - ASEAN.

Currently, with the joint efforts of China and ASEAN countries, the situation on the South China Sea is generally stable. Both sides are strengthening co-operation in maritime affairs and are gearing up consultations on “The Code of Conduct in the South China Sea”.

Both parties have faith and wisdom and are able to control their differences. In recent days, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte clearly expressed hope for the peaceful solution of the territorial dispute with China.

Even recent visits by the foreign ministers of the four ASEAN countries show that countries of this region hope to promote good neighbourlyness with pragmatic attitudes and do not want to become a tool for preserving US hegemony.
