American expert for the Balkans Alon Ben Meir has talked about the letter that has come to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti from Turkish President Tayip Erdogan, asking him to consider the embassy issue in Jerusalem.
Through a Facebook post, Ben Meir said he hoped Kurt would find a way to ignore Erdogan's letter to the issue.
On the contrary, he says, Kosovo would badly damage its reputation if it moved its embassy from Jerusalem.
Under these circumstances, according to Ben Meir, Kosovo would pave the way for influence Erdogan in its sovereignty.
His full post:
Erdogan has asked Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti to reconsider the country's decision to open an embassy in Jerusalem. The message was given as part of a letter congratulating Kurt for his victory in early elections Monday. I hope Kosovo's prime minister finds a way to ignore Erdogan's request. Otherwise, Kosovo would hurt its reputation if it gave up its commitment to open its Embassy in Western Jerusalem, allowing Erdogan to exert excessive influence on its sovereign right to create its embassies wherever he wishes.
