Lee Wong, 69, has been applauded after making a powerful statement about discrimination.
But some said Asian-Americans should not feel obliged to prove their loyalty to their country.
Anti-Asian Racism is growing in the United States. Six Asian women were killed in Atlanta last week along with two other victims.
Thousands of Asian-Americans have reported cases of racial violence in recent months, cases related to rhetoric that the Asian people are guilty of distributing COVID-19.
Wong, a former West Chester in Ohio, spoke of racism he faced as an Asian person.
During his address, he began to remove his shirt by saying “I'll show you how patriotism looks”.
He lifted up his shirt showing big marks on his chest.

He served for 20 years in the U.S. Army.
