Some Ways in which Pandemia Has Affected Our Sexual Life and Relationships

There have been many scenarios about how the pandemic COVID-19 would change our sex life. At first, when people thought they had to do with just a few weeks at home, there were predictions of a new baby boom. The hypocrisy was that many people would spend their leisure time having hot, passionate sex. Then, when it became clear that quarantine would last long and the pandemic would have a devastating effect, predictions of a divorce outbreak began to circulate.

For the first time, people had been at home for so long with their wives and perhaps their children without running away. Of course, this treaty would lead to many divisions. After the vaccines became available, we predicted once again that people would use their relative freedom to start communication and connection with each other.

But none of this really happened. The new data from the US National Coalition for Sex Health and the Kinsey Institute examines how American sex life changed after COVID-19.

People have less sex in general

The survey found that more than half of 18-35-year-old Americans reported sexual difficulties during pandemic, including low sexual interest, unrecognizable sexual desires with partners and orgasm problems. These results are not strange. There are several important reasons why people may have had less sex than before the pandemic. Couples may simply have had fewer opportunities, says Justin Lehmiler, PhD, a researcher at the Kinsey Institute who led research and data analysis. Forecast that everyone would have a lot of sex, he ignored couples who had children at home. Despite family members at home all the time, their parents had difficulty finding time for sex.

But perhaps the most important reason people have seen their lust fall or have problems with their orgasm is stress and insecurity caused by COVIED-19 worldwide, says Raegan McDonald-Mosley, MD, OB / GYN and CEO of Power to Decides. For many people stress and anxiety are great killers of sexual desire, and the pandemic has given us many, many reasons to be anxious. Millions of people lost their jobs, and we all had to worry about whether we or someone we loved got sick. So, even though couples spent more time together, they weren't necessarily sex addicts.

Couples Talk More

COVID-19 not only changed our relationship for the worse. In fact, data suggests that many couples have learned how to communicate more effectively during a pandemic. Instead of the predicted divorce boom, people realized how to make their relationship work. Pandemia has really tested people in ways they haven't tried before and moved many to have more meaningful discussions about their relationship and what they want from them. Research showed that 47% of people in relationships increase communication with their partners to deal with sexual problems. Of course, divorce and divorce remained, but the general trend was surprisingly positive and suggests that our relationship is more flexible than we think.

People experiment more with sex toys, lubricants, and knots

Pandemia has given both couples and some singles an incentive for sexual exploration. The data shows that many people enjoyed sex toys for the first time during the pandemic. Couples spent more time together, so it was easier for them to explore new forms of pleasure as well as sex in new positions or new places. Free people, on the other hand, experienced virtual solutions such as sexting and phone sex.

In fact, those who experienced new things were more likely to report an improvement in their sexual life than those who did not. Data shows that among people in relations, 42% reported a more satisfying sex life during pandemic, compared to 20% of single people. This may indicate that sexual exploration can be an adaptive way of maintaining a healthy sexual life during a stressful period. Sometimes the solution is simple enough to try a new way or place to have sex or to use lubricant or a sex toy for the first time.

Online appointments have been added

Pandemia has caused many to experience online dating for the first time. One of the things he saw in the data collected by the Kinsey Institute was that the nature of online meetings is different now than it was before. People have bigger, more meaningful and intimate online conversations. Before the pandemic, many people used dating applications as a way to find someone who was out, send some messages, and meet as soon as possible.

Now, people are taking time to really get to know someone on the Internet. There is also an increase in virtual meetings, which helps them to experience the waters before meeting someone personally. A virtual meeting has the advantage of being completely free and offers you a slight departure if you need it. Thus, researchers believe that the pattern for future relationships is changing. They see a future where many people will use online meetings as a step between Internet connection and face-to-face meeting.
