After a powerful resistance to the Jashar family, Serbian forces were forced to withdraw.
In the second attack on the Jashar family on January 22, 1998, two people from this family were injured.
On March 5, 1998, Serbian forces again surrounded the house of Adem Jashar and his family of tanks and heavy artillery. In clashes that continued until 7 March, Serbian forces massacred over 50 members of the Jashari family, among them women and children.
After his death, Adem Jashar became the symbol of Kosovo's war and the country's independence.
The Jashar family house after Kosovo's independence returned to memorial homes. And in front of the house are tombs of the martyrs who lost their lives in assault. There is also a museum in Prekaz featuring the Jashar family's clothing and possessions.
