The process, supervised by the UN, is being held amid rumours of bribery and claims that it is being imposed on this country by the UN, writes The Guardian, translates Periscopi.
22 candidates have been nominated for the prime minister's position, and 24 for the presidential council, writes The Guardian, translates Periscopi. Three women are among them, which is an age-long achievement for Libya.
But there are strong doubts whether those who will be elected by the Libyan Political Forum of Dialogue by the UN will be accepted by rival regimes in the country's east and west.
The prime minister will remain in this position until December, when national elections are expected to be held. Some candidates are technocrats who just want to monitor the way to the elections, but others have ambitions to be prime ministers even after the December elections.
Among them is Moin Kikhia, who expressed concerns that votes for candidates were being bought.
