Kosovo's Gjon Gorani, who has been living and acting in Belgium for many years, has received two phone calls from the Central Election Commission (KQZ) to get his data to verify as voters for early parliamentary elections, to be held on February 14th.

After applying for a vote by mail on January 16th, and on January 22nd he received automatic confirmation that the app was accepted, he was called.

I got my first cell phone one day later on Saturday morning with the person in connection with checking my data. Same day, a few hours later, I'm still picked up by the CEC for the same thing, it means checking notes. I let you know that I had already talked to CEC officials who confirmed that my notes have been verified, what CEC official had no idea, but I still gave him the same” data, Gorani relates.

Phone calls didn't seem enough, because he's been contacted again.

The next day, on Sunday, I still get e-mail from the CEC saying my request was accepted and that the CEC will contact me about verifying data. According to this, I am still not the voter registry from outside”, he tells Radio Free Europe.

Central Election Commission spokesman Valmir Elezi provides no answer to why something like this happened.

He says contacting applicants over the phone will be divided into three phases and that applicants are called for the second time only in case they do not respond to the first call, even though the case of Jon Goran has occurred.

The voter service is currently continuing intensive work with registration and verification of accepted apps. Only after the end of this entire period of examination, assessment and verification of apps will we finally have a detailed report where we will know exactly what the number of applications are to register as voters abroad and how many will be registered successfully after they have met the” legal criteria, Elez says.

Elez says the calls are being made in order to implement the decision to verify applicants who apply to register as voters outside Kosovo.

“All citizens who register successfully as voters outside Kosovo will be able to vote via mail starting on February 2nd. Under the Law for General Elections Papers should be accepted by the CEC by 12 February”, Elesi says.

Kosovo Calls Considered Attacks in Norway

On January 20th, Norwegian newspaper Aftenften reported that the Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor has confirmed that more than 200,000 mobile phone users in Norway have been called by Kosovo in recent days.

That was just a few days later, a similar case was recorded in which deceivers misused North Korea's telephone numbers.

Thorbjorn Bush, a security specialist in Telenor, says that the last two “numbers attacks from North Korea and Kosovo were large”.

As far as such attacks according to him, frauds could achieve a profit of about 500,000 Norwegian crores.

Voter registration outside Kosovo has started on 13 January and will last until January 21st.

Given a report by the Kosovo Statistics Agency, there are up to 800,000 Kosovo citizens living in different parts of the world.

More than 35,000 Kosovo citizens living in different parts of the world were registered as voters from the diaspora for parliamentary elections that were held in October 2019.
