Kosovo counterpart's confession faces COVID-19: Guy died, Dad didn't know.

Pulmologist Shqim Thaci, along with his wife Vlora Esati-Thaci, father Bahri Thaci and his mother, Havana Thaci, are currently on the front line facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since then they haven't fired a day, because of their mission to protect and save the lives of citizens.

As opposed to the Thulmologist Displaced Thaci and his wife, they had two small children, each day they were in charge of the task. The more his wife was also pregnant during the time that they were facing pandemics and, in spite of the risk of being infected with the virus, she did not give up her work and give up on citizens who more than ever needed their help.

Pulmologist Thaci tells of the Express, of the difficulties they had during the pandemic. He relates the most difficult times during his work and times in the family.

I worked my wife's afternoon “That is what Thaci says as he shows that his children were young and that he had no one to care for them.

By the time he was working in the morning, the main Family Medicine Centre in Pristina had found understanding that his wife Vlora Esati-Thaci would work only in the afternoon.

We've been engaged since the dawn of the pandemic. While I worked in the morning, the QKMF has found understanding that she will work in the afternoon. The main reason was that we had two small children and we had to adjust to the times to stay with them at home because they weren't even nests at the time, so we didn't have anyone to tell the kids”, he said.

And because of the risk of being infected at work, the virus was passed on to the children, he shows that for a long time at home everyone had been wearing masks.

“has been double pandemic difficulties. It was a new virus for which we had no experience in the level of infexitority, patients came in very serious condition, and it has been very difficult for us. We had no knowledge of how this virus behaves even in pregnancy, and how dangerous his children were. So at first we've been wearing masks all the time. I've stayed in the other room because I've been directly locked up at COVID”, he says.

Because of the pandemic, Thaci claims that since March they haven't fired a day. So much more, for three months in a row every three days they've cared for.

We don't have a break. For three months every third day, we have been cared for by two doctors at the Pulmology Clinic. It was a big load. 101 patients were in bed. Every day we had to treat everyone. We've been on the move practically all the time. But important was the survival of the lives of citizens”, he adds.

Because of their work, the four members of this family were infected with the COVID-19 virus.

While his father's condition, counterpart Bahri Thaci was heavily burdened.

However, he too had passed this virus and was immediately back in the line of duty.

Pulmologist Thaci says there have been moments when he himself was saddened by what he saw in the clinic.

It shows that the worst period has been in June, when the number of patients in serious health condition was greater.

Then the flow of patients was extremely large. Each of those patients has come into serious health, oxygen. Then the number of beds was almost on the final capacity limits. There was this period when everything was found not to be measured by the number of infected and healed, but only the number of dead”, he says.

And he has confessed one of the most difficult times he has had during his time in office.

A parent and his son have been hospitals. Father was 83 years old, and his 43-year-old son. Unfortunately, the boy died of COVID-19. He was in room number 2 while his father was in Room Number 4. Family didn't tell him about the boy's death. It's been impossible to get into his room all the time, even in the hallway if your son told you what he was like, is it better? At that time, I had trouble moving into Room Number 4 to go to Room 5, because it was impossible for him not to ask how his son is”, he relates.

He says that after five days, the 83-year-old was released home, and then he was notified by family members of the boy's death.

Thaci, on the other hand, shows that there have been many occasions when even family members of the patients were offended but that there were also times when they were grateful for their work.

He also feels very grateful for the work of health workers at the clinic.

Thaci says that nearly all the health workers in Pulmology are infected with the virus and that despite their health burden, on the 15th day everyone has returned to work.

Our clinic's “Every nurse and communityologist is infected. I passed the virus without even knowing it. We've had difficulties because we were only 12 testologists. But the benefits of this job were that on the 14th day of protocol passing the virus, workers were immediately back in custody. There are no nurses or pulmonologist who has taken a break, even though he has met them because there have been even some of those who have been in worse condition”, he adds.

These health workers, however, have not even been around their families.

While many citizens have been waiting for the New Year along with families, Thulmologist Thaci and many other health workers have hosted this holiday far from the family.
