KLA leaders' defence sends investigators to Kosovo for field work

This village is just one of the countries mentioned in the Special Court's indictment of UCK leaders.

Likoci, Jabllanica, Llapsnik, Llapashtica, Drenoci and other countries mentioned in the indictment may be the address of UCK leaders' lawyers to conduct investigations.

To that end, Kadri Wessel's lawyer had even warned that he would establish a team of investigators who would work on the ground.

“We have identified an international expert with experience in investigating gammas for Mr. Wessel, who is part of the defence team. We believe that we will have up to six investigators who will work on the ground”, Emerson said in December last year.

Licensed lawyers in Kosovo show what exactly this group, created by Wessel's defence, RTK reports.

“Of course the address will be these places where the prosecution claims crimes were committed, this investigative team will go there and see if they can find evidence that doesn't match those of the prosecutor's office. But of course they will even investigate various archives”, Taulant Hodaj said.

But such a practice has rarely occurred in the court processes in Kosovo.

Whatever evidence the Prosecutor's Office has put forward, place or document, this team goes out on the ground and tries to find excusing evidence in order to challenge the indictment. There have been no such cases for us in Kosovo, since it is known to be more difficult even because of the economic situation that customers have and cannot cover all those expenses”, Skender Musa has said.

To conduct such investigations on the ground, it is estimated that protection will take at least 6 to 12 months of time.
