A 6.9-magnitude strong earthquake occurred in Antarctica near the Chilean base Eduardo Frey, which was put on alert for the tsunami risk evacuation.
The quake was recorded at 20:36 by a local clock at a depth of 15 miles [15 km] and the epidex, some 210km east of the Chilean base.
The National Emergency Office of the Interior Ministry, Killian (Onemi), has demanded the “submersion of the Antarctic Coast” for fear of a tsunami.
