Scientists led by the University of California, San Diego, did research and looked at how both kinds of bacteria interacted in mice and in otter samples extracted from women's vaginas.

Oral bacteria, called nucleatum incalculatorium, usually do not cause waste but can contribute to xingiv, also known as gum disease.
