He split up because of the coronary: Dog travels 16,000km to be with his family again

Zoe and Guy Eilbeck first met with their little Pipp in 2018 in Messina, Sicily, as they sailed. She immediately approached their hearts, and quickly adapted to life aboard, enjoying herself with them. They continued their journey around the world to America, [...]

They continued their journey throughout the world to America, North Carolina, but because of the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic, they were forced to return to their homeland, Australia. Those who are not familiar with that country's rules do not know that it is very difficult to introduce a pet in that country because of strict rules imposed by the government.

As the borders closed quickly, Zoe and Guy Eilbeck, and their sons Cam and Max, had less than 48 hours to pack everything from their yachts and come home from Hilton Head Island. But their Pip couldn't take them, and last minute the family arranged for the dog to stay with their friend Lynn Williams. Unfortunately, Williams already had two dogs on the farm and couldn't take care of Pippy for a long time, so she put in an ad to look for a shelterer.

He answered from Ellen Steinberg, who lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina. While caring for Pipi, Zoe rose every day at four o'clock in the morning to resolve the documents needed to get her dog from the United States to Australia. At the same time, when Zoe and Ellen responded, the girls would arrange a video phone call so Zoe could see Pippin.

Before long, the coronobius began to spread rapidly, and it became clear to all that a return to the United States would not be possible, and the only solution was for Pipi to travel alone to Australia. But even this has been complicated by problems related to pandemic.

To get a dog from America, you need to get a US statement that says the dog is in good health and had some blood tests about rage. At the time of the pandemic, it was very difficult to get”, Zoe explained to CNN.

After finally receiving permission to import into Australia, Chantas, an Australian airline company, announced that she was no longer accepting domestic animals. After many hours on the phone, Zoe discovered that little Pipp could be brought to Australia on a flight from New Zealand. That meant that the dog had to go first to Los Angeles and then to Auckland, through the pet transport company Jetpets, and only later to Australia.

Their problems also had no end. Steinberg, a girl who cared for Pipp for three months, then had to travel to visit her family and handed her dog to her friend Stacey Green. When Stacey took Pippy, she fell in love with him so much that I thought I wouldn't give it back”, Zoe said jokingly.

But because of the choreography, flights were constantly canceled, so Zoe posted an application to the social media destined for those travelling east to the west coast. At her request, Melissa Young, who works at a dog rescue fund, responded. He was with her that little Pippy came to Los Angeles.

There she handed over the little Pip to Jetpets through which she reached Auckland on July 3rd. From there she left for Melbourne, where she spent 10 days in quarantine, which is necessary for any domestic animal that comes to Australia from outside.

All information about little Pipp then reached the Australian local media, which published this news after which Virgil Australia Airlines agreed to take the little Pippy home.

She finally arrived in Sydney on August 11th. Five months after last saw him in America, Zoe and Guy Eilbeck came to greet him and kiss him after a long reception and travel. It was a very emotional gathering.

Our biggest trick was that Pippy wouldn't remember us that long. However, when she heard our voices, she crashed into our arms. It was absolutely amazing,” concluded Zoe for CNN.
