The percentage of depression is growing around the world, but recent research by scientists suggests that even a single hour spent in a gym within weeks can serve as a strong advocate against mental health diseases, regardless of your age or gender.
An analysis of data from over 30,000 Norwegian adults over 13 years has shown that 12 percent of depression cases can be prevented by a modest dose of physical activity.
This is the first time we've been able to define the preventative potential of physical activity in terms of reducing future levels of depression”, Samuel Harvey said.
Another good part of this study is that they have found that exercise of any intensity provides you with that degree of protection against mental illness, so you don't need to wear yourself out for hours to gain.
The majority of mental health benefits from physical exercise are realized within the first time”, Harvey said.
