COVID-19: Scientists identify the crime that causes kidney damage to hospitalized patients

One of the most threatening complications among patients admitted to hospital because of COVID-19 acute is the damage to some internal organs of the body. Of these, kidney damage is a very fearful result, which can also increase the chances of new deaths related to the coronary. In a study [...]

Of these, kidney damage is a very fearful result, which can also increase the chances of new deaths related to the coronary.

In a new study, an international team of researchers has identified a protein that is most likely the cause of kidney damage in patients with COVID-19.

According to a study conducted by the University of Michigan, high levels of the triangular receptor of the urokinian plasma disposal ( S U n PAR) A protein produced by blood and serves as a biomarketer for immunization and inflammatory activity in the human body was closely linked to kidney damage among people infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus and requested hospital lying.

“We don't know exactly why patients with COVID-19 severe have a high degree of kidney damage”, said Salim Hayek, author of the study. “However, it is becoming clearer that an hyperactive immune system plays a major role in COVID-19, including kidney-related complications. ”

The authors tested the surPAR levels of 352 participants who contracted the disease and were admitted to the hospital because of it. Nearly 25 percent of participants suffered severe kidney injuries while in the hospital. Their average Su levels PAR was over 60 percent higher than other participants.

Also, the potential need for rescue dialing was 20 times higher among patients with the highest surAR levels. In all, the average surPAR levels of hospital participants with COVID-19 were nearly three times higher when compared with healthy individuals.

“SuPAR is an immune circuit factor we have seen contributing to kidney damage in thousands of patients,” said Jochen Reiser, coauthor of the study. “Virust ARNs such as HIV and SARS-CoV-2 bring a SuPAR response to the inborn immune system leading to an increase in surPAR levels in blood. If there is a hyperinflammatory response and SuPAR, kidney cells can be damaged”, Reiser explained.

Subramaniam Pennathur, coauthor of the study, stressed that recording of Suo levels PAR at the time of admission to hospitals can serve as an important predictor of acute kidney damage (AKI) over the course of their treatment and be consistent with future care.

“ d.m. th., identify early-risk patients and create adequate preventative treatment, thus reducing the risk of AKI and improving the results of COVID-1950, he said.

Pennathur added that treatments focused on cutting down the SuPAR road could also be considered for therapeutic and preventative care of AKI caused by the coronary.

“We are preparing to start the first clinical test aimed at su PAR to prevent kidney damage linked to COVID-19, and in doing so, we hope to ease the burden of kidney disease on both COVID and non--- COVID-19 with high-level success PAR,” completed Hayek.
