On the fourth day of fierce fighting in the region, Azerbaijani president has vowed to fight until Armenian forces leave the disputed territory.
We have only one condition: the Armenian armed forces must leave unconditionally, completely and immediately leave our lands --” said President Ilham Aliyev.
More than 100 deaths have been reported in the worst fighting in recent years on the Nago-Karabakh region.
Officially part of Azerbaijan, it is governed by ethnic Armenians.
The two former Soviet republics fought in 1988-1994 over the territory. Although Armenia supports its declared republic, it has never officially recognised it.
It is unclear what caused the renewed war, the worst struggle since the 1994 truce, and there is growing fear that international powers could be drawn into conflict.
French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday he was the extremely concerned “by military messages” coming from Turkey, a staunch ally of Azerbaijan.
Turkey says it is “fully ready” to help Azerbaijan recover the enclave.
Meanwhile, Armenia's defence ministry issued a photograph of an SU-25 Armenian plane that said it had crashed by a Turkish F-16 on Tuesday. Turkey has dismissed the claim as “free propaganda” and Azerbaijan says Armenia is lying about the cause.
