On July 4, 2004, Greece was proclaimed European champion. In Lisbon he defeated Portugal in the finals, with a score of 1:0. In August, Greeks played a friendly one, while on September 4th 2004, 16 years ago, Greece would play its first official match as European champion.
It was a big favourite, but was surprised for bad at Tirana's “Qemal Stafa”. 2:1 won Albania the match, which continues to be one of the largest in Albanian national history. It was a qualifying match for the 2006 World Cup.
As European champion, Greece did not discuss victory at the now ruined stadium. But, the players of the Albanian National, as he wrote in a banner of fans, announced to Greece's players that they were not in Portugal, where they had recently achieved peak success.
Adrian Aliaj's Edvin Murati had achieved goals for the big Redsight.
The Albanian Football Federation on Friday has commemorated that historic victory.
“16 years ago Albania defeated 2:1 Greece, Europe's newly declared champion. Gramoz Palushi, a redheaded fan, lost his life violated by the darkness of reason, while Albanian football continued to take steps forward becoming an important reality in European football. Today is the day to recall that” event, it wrote FSHF.

Now Kosovo is next to play against Greece on Sunday at “Fadil Vokri”, within the second edition of the League of Nations.
Emotions are not nearly as close to those of the 16-year-old match, but are hoped for a Kosovo response after the pale appearance of Moldova.
Gramoz Palushin on Friday has also remembered the Red and Black Typhoses. The young Albanian man had been killed on 4 September 2004 in Greece while celebrating that grand victory of Albania over Greece.
“Gramozi fell for the flag. Always in our hearts”, the Red and Black Typhos wrote, official fans of the Albanian National.
