Research by Alabama Birmingham University found that if you eat your dinner at lunchtime can help you lose weight, this is called time-limited feeding.
What is limited food in time?
During the study, researchers examined 11 women and men between the ages of 20 and 45. They participated in two different food tests over a four - day period. The first group ate three meals during a 12-hour period, and the second group consumed three meals during a six - hour period - morning at 8: 00 a.m., lunch at 10am, and noon.
Both groups consumed the same amount of food. To measure how many calories, carbohydrates, proteins and fat each participants had burned during the trials, they were later placed in a room that measured their metabolism. Researchers found that the second group (the shortest meal time) had an increased rate of burning fat.
The Positive
Nutritionist Susie Borrell says health benefits for this kind of relatively easy regime to follow include “the reduction of blood pressure and cholesterol”.
Susie explains that you can expect to lose two or more pounds a month. This form of eating is also excellent because it does not limit calories to the way other diets can be.
“Of course you have to eat healthy meals with lots of protein and vegetables”, Susie adds.
The Negative Part
Perhaps the most obvious challenge is the time period you have to wait between dinner and breakfast on the next day about 20 hours if you stick to the study. This aspect could be challenging for some “people, Susie says. “This diet is also not appropriate for those with high demand for energy, pregnant or breast - feeding women, anyone who has insulin resistance or diabetes”.
