A color that combines with everything, elegant and timeless. These are some of the reasons why we love black in our clothes. Currently, hashtag #alblastrything (black) in the Instagram, is used over 3 million times.
Not only the common people, but also for many designers and fashioners, there is something different about the black that makes everyone love and wear it all the time.
A mode psychologist (yes, there is one), Annabel Maldonado (not us), says one of his theory of black is that black is a “weapons form”. It links the widespread use of black to keeping negative emotions.
According to color psychology and a definition of color use based on human behavior, black has qualities of “emotional protection”. Black color represents authority, power, and discipline and clothing in this color is a way of communicating an authoritarian image.
Dark colors create a barrier between itself and the outside world, keeping people away and creating a comfort zone, hiding weakness and uncertainty. They work as a shield for those who need it.
According to a study of 300 women regarding color preferences, anxious people were likely to choose black about 3 times more. People who tend to worry often and have a melancholic nature were also twice as predisposed to admit that they wore black more than other colors.
However, not always the definitions of what we wear or the colors we use are direct indications of what we are, but often the dress is one of the ways we express, as we can, our outlook.
