Russia was the first country to officially record an anti-cronervirus vaccine on 11 August, but immunologists have raised concerns about the speed with which it developed and whether it is subject to necessary tests.
Venezuela's government, which has received billions of dollars in loans from Russia to support its troubled economy, said it would be willing to participate in clinical trials.
“In the coming days, we'll ask volunteers to vaccinate”- President Maduro announced on Sunday.
He also said a nationwide stalemate would resume Monday day to curb the spread of the virus.
Venezuela has fewer than 50,000 recorded cases of coronary and 381 deaths, a number many times lower than other countries in the region.
But health experts say the actual figure may be much higher, as many Venezuelans are not tested by fear. The government blamed returning immigrants for the spread of Covid-19.
