Albanian police arrest criminal leaving prison 23 years ago

Citizens Fran Gjergj Prendi of Puka's Horse Bears has been arrested today in Han Hoti after being sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder 28 years ago.

The 61-year-old was arrested at the Han Hoti customs station after information was received on the operational route that he would enter Albanian territory.

It is known that in 1992, this citizen killed a person in Puka's reservoir, and in 1994 he received his sentence from the Supreme Court.

Taking advantage of the events of 97 he left the joint prison in Tepelene, but has already been arrested 23 years later.

Prendi was even among the 50 Albanians most wanted by the Special Research Unit”Fast”, which was informed of his arrival, as Prendi gave other generals at the Border Point not to be identified but failed.

Thanks to co-operation and information sharing between the Special Research Unit “Fast” with the counterpart structures of European countries that are part of the EFAST network, as well as after co-ordinating actions with Hot's Han Border Police services became possible the capture and grip of 61-year-old by Bear Fush, Puka.
The Service of Hoti's Border Police in collaboration with the Special Research Unit in the State Police and the State Police Directorate of Shkodra Police, at the Han Hoti Border Point, enabled the capture and grip of the person in international research:
Fran Prendi 61, born in the village of Buhot, the Administrative Rhape Puke Municipal Unit, sentenced to life imprisonment.
This ruling citizen, No. 18, date 05.04.1994, of the Puka Judicial District Court, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the criminal act of “killing deliberately for poor motives”.
His sentence has been served because by the 09.03.1992, about 19.00 p.m., at the spot called in the Puka city reservoir, has committed the crime of murder for poor motives of a citizen.
For this crime this citizen was arrested and has been serving his sentence at the Tepelene Ben's prison, but with the events of 1997, he was released from prison.
Thanks to the co-operation of the Special Research Unit “Fast”, with the counterparts structures of European countries participating in the ENFAST network, the body was seized for the arrival of this citizen in Albania, which at the border crossing point has given other generals with a view to non-identification, but has been put in charge after detailed verifications.
This citizen was part of the list of the 50 most wanted to be the target of this special unit's work to capture.
