Sejdiu: My work was banned from political appetite and business interests

Former Kosovo Hospital and University Service Director Basri Sejdiu has reacted after the decision by the USKKUK Board to fire him from the post.

Sejdiu said his dismissal was done without warning.

Today, at 2:30 p.m., without any warning, I was notified of my dismissal from the position of USKUK Director-General. This orchestrated decision preceded a media campaign that issued internal documents that were owned by the Board. According to them, my dismissal is the disappointing fulfillment of tasks. However, that is their reasoning, but certainly not their real reason. Many other issues are listed without giving even one fact. A series of internal audience reports have been listed, which are conducted and serve to improve internal procedures, not to an agenda of interest groups”.

He stressed that the inner audience's claims are biased.

According to him, audits have been initiated by him, in the past mandate of the Hospital and University Service Board.

The greatest <x0ronic of this process is that most of these internal audits have been initiated by myself during the 1920s and 2019s, under the competence of the previous board of directors, which has assessed my performance. As the most important point, the decision also mentions Odda's decision to fake fax license for my work as a specialist. I also sent this biased case to the Court, which is being dealt with. Moreover, this is a personal matter that doesn't relate to my post at SHSKUK and for which I have the unconventional decision of Minister Agan and which I will make public”.

The biggest irony of this process is that most of these internal audits have been initiated by myself during the 1920s and 2019s, under the competence of the previous board of directors, which has praised my performance. As the most important point, the decision also mentions Odda's decision to fake fax license for my work as a specialist. I also sent this biased case to the Court, which is being dealt with. Moreover, this is a personal matter that does not relate to my post at SHSKUK and for which I have the packaged decision of Minister Agan and which I will make public.

I've always done my job professionally, but it seems that politics doesn't accept professional people. Parapolica favors the business clans I've fought since my first day in this position. I worked on increasing public services and against unfair favouring private hospitals.

I took the KSF under management in 2017 in a very serious and almost hopeless state. I'm glad that during my term I've managed to increase services at every QKUK clinic as well as in the general hospitals. Thanks to the hard work of these three years, we have been able to function 24 hours of cardiology. That alone has enabled citizens for only one year to save about 10m euros. We've also been serving the PCI, a national project where heart attack patients can enter surgery 30 minutes after the attack. Last year we also inaugurated the first brain attack center, among the only ones in the region. Furthermore, we've managed to double five services in an ambulance and have invested tens of millions in new medical equipment.

During my service in this position, I committed myself to increasing the USKKUK budget from 70 million to 2017 to 118 million in 2020. So I am so happy that within this mandate we have achieved, along with the fine collective, saving thousands of lives of citizens and improving their health.

SHSKUK still has many problems, but we were on the right path to its improvement. Unfortunately, this road was stopped by political appetites as well as business interests. Since February 2020, when the Government appointed the Board in this composition, I have faced unprecedented actions of its members. By questioning me and investigating my past job.

For no moment have they been interested in cooperating or supporting me in managing pandemic and improving conditions for patients. Political and business influence has been available since the first day this board started working. Moreover, the board's decision comes after I prosecuted one of the members of this board after the smoking indictment in the operating hall. So for this unjust and arbitrary decision of the board I'm going to file complaints in the labour inspectorate and competent court.

I want to end up thanking all health professionals who do great, unspoiled work every day. The days of the pandemic have once again shown that our health professionals are true heroes, who with unprecedented sacrifices in the service of the patient and citizen, face any political and business plot.
