| European Commissioner for Business Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Oliver Varhely announced today that the European Commission presented a draft negotiating framework for Albania and Northern Macedonia to the EU Foreign Affairs Council.
The commission received an invitation in March to submit the project to the Council of Foreign Affairs when the decision was made to open accession negotiations, the announcement said. Oliver Varhely estimated that today is another important step for Albania and Northern Macedonia's European integration path, as the EU has fulfilled its obligation by ensuring a concrete framework for negotiations. Our proposals are based on the revised accession methodology, which was introduced in February, in order for the process to become more reliable, dynamic and predictable”, Varhely said. “Mazi expects discussion with member states on the possibility of holding the first intergovernmental conferences with these two countries as soon as possible. Their future is clear in the EU and I am confident that they will continue to meet their reform on the European road, as they have done so far”, he added. |
