Turkey will prepare a bill to control social media platforms or close them, Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan announced. He said his family was offended on the internet.
Finance Minister Berat Albayrak, Erdogan's son-in-law, announced through a post on the social network Tateter that his fourth child was born. Albayrak's wife, Esra, was offended by several users who were later arrested, Turkish Interior Minister Sulejman Soylu said.
President Erdogan announced the Justice and Development Party will present a draft law to control the use of social media, adding that an increase in the <x0-cypherics immoral” in recent years is due to lack of rules, Rel reports.
These platforms don't fit this nation. We want to close, check them by bringing a bill to parliament as soon as possible”, he said.
He said social media companies would be forced to appoint representatives in Turkey to respond to legal requirements, which he said were currently ignored.
In June, Turkey sharply criticised Titter Company for suspending more than 7,000 accounts supporting President Erdogan, saying the company is staining the government and trying to re-dissign Turkish politics.
