Dad kills 17-year-old pregnant for “guarding family honor”

The furious father of the 17-year-old pregnancy killed her to maintain the honor of the family.

Police said they suspected the girl was raped and are already investigating how rape could have occurred.

She was living with her grandparents, who discovered her pregnancy as she was accompanied to the hospital at the end

As soon as they announced the girl's father, he came to their house early in the morning and killed her.

He told other villagers he had killed himself and that the body was buried.

The head officer of the Kapcot area, Sunetta, told the media: “We were informed by the hospital that a teenage girl was pregnant. This is included in the special laws on child sexual abuse, but when we went to investigate, the girl was dead and buried. We took DNA samples to investigate who raped him. Investigations are continuing, and the guilty will soon be seized”.

The attack comes weeks after another girl, a 14-year-old, resisted her two rapists, who burned her alive out of rage.

She was hospitalized at Raipur Hospital with 80% body burns but died a little later. Police said the girl had shown the identity of pre-death rapists.

Similar cases of violence and discrimination against women in India have repeatedly occurred.

About 40,000 rapes were reported in the country in 2016, while experts say this is just the tip of the iceberg, as many victims are afraid to speak from threats of the guilty, and social stigmatism that comes with rape.
