Walking toe may be normal for children aged 12-15 months after testing different positions of feet. By and large, walking to the fingertips is nothing to worry about until the child is 2 years old. In addition to discovering ways of moving, walking on the toes may remain a custom among children who keep on doing so. Usually, they stop doing so at the age of 5.

Because of various reasons, however, walking to the top of my fingers may still be common among children of older age. But why do they keep walking on their fingertips?

It could be a special situation.

If your child continues to walk on his finger even after the age of 2, you may need to visit a doctor. Check your child's feet first to see if they have strong leg muscles or if they have difficulty coordinating.

The muscle dystrophy could be the cause.

This is a genetic condition that can be diagnosed by controlling a child's leg muscles. In this case, their muscles are usually weak.

A spinal cord abnormality may be the cause.

This may result in restrictions on the movement of the spinal cord. It occurs when the spinal cord is connected to tissues around the spine, such as at its base, for example.

As a result, as the spine grows, the spinal cord is stretched out and the nerves are damaged. This situation makes it difficult to walk straight and cause pain. The child must be checked immediately by a doctor.

Brain paralysis may be the cause.

Walking at the tip of the finger can be caused by cerebral paralysis. In this case, a child also has weak muscles, has problems with keeping his body straight, and is walking in a unstable manner.

Customs can be the cause.

That happens when a child is absolutely healthy, but for some reason he simply refuses to walk normally and prefers to walk on his fingertips. This may be the result of a simple habit they cannot get rid of. This situation affects between 5% and 12% of healthy children.

Please remember that this article is only for informative purposes, and you should always consult doctors!
