Church officials say they will pray for the health of the nation, as the church was damaged in fierce clashes between protesters and police, reports NBC Washington.
The fire in the 200-year-old church was set up, officials say, adding that at one point a large fire broke out in front of the church, and the protective mosque over the church was also written with X-rays.
The church is of historic significance, as nearly all the presidents from James Madison participated in its services.
More than 4,400 demonstrators were arrested during protests that erupted in the United States on the case of George Floyd's murder, which have continued for six days.
Peaceful protests soon turned into vandalism and looting across the country, and police were forced to use tear gas and rubber bullets during clashes with protesters.
Three protesters were killed in clashes with police, one in Kentucky and two in Iowa.
In New Jersey, protesters were seen setting fire to police cars, breaking windows and taking goods from destroyed shops.
