Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has spoken on the Opinion show today about Kosovo's agreement with Serbia now that Kosovo has the new government.
According to President Thaci, the process of dialogue between the two states will intensify in the coming weeks and the process will have active US participation.
He did not give a date when there might be an agreement but said he is <x0-optimist”
I think that in the coming weeks, we will have an intensifying of this process a commitment by the US to reach an agreement that brings mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia. I think they are determined to close problems in the Western Balkans. The US role for the Western Balkans is not linked to the US administration. I hope more quickly that pessimists think but I am optimistic.”, Thaci said.
As for the issue of the idea of exchange of territories, Thaci said Serbia would recognise Kosovo in its current territorial sovereignty.
The agreement closes hostilities opens the Atlantic perspective for Kosovo and brings mutual recognition. Kosovo has made enough sacrifices, Serbia has committed genocide in Kosovo, so Kosovo has nothing to pay. I can conclude that without an agreement without the closure of the conflict, neither Kosovo nor Serbia will move forward. In the end, Kosovo will be recognised by Serbia, respecting today's territorial sovereignty of Kosovo. ”- Thaci declared.
