Suspected contract with two foreign businessmen, how former Prime Minister Haki Abbas applied

Few people in Kosovo have knowledge of businessmen Michael Glazer and Dragan Gregurec. Glazer is a professional lawyer who has developed consultancy businesses in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Since 2013, he runs the private business consulting firm SEE Regional Advisors Ltd. Meanwhile, Gregurec is a Croatian businessman, with an engineering profession. He leads a company [...]

Meanwhile, Gregurec is a Croatian businessman, with an engineering profession. He runs a private company in Croatia dealing with the development of industrial plants.

But for the two entrepreneurs exercising their activity in Croatia, they have knowledge of at least two people of past power: Hakki Abazi and Emily Redzep.

Meeting with the two former members of Kurti Government cabinet has been the key to an agreement Glazer and Gregurec have linked to the Government of Kosovo in March of this year.

Insider has secured a document signed by Emily Redzepi, former Minister of Management and Local Power, for the engagement of Glazer and Gregurec on 17 March this year.

The document shows that Glazer and Gregurec have been authorised to assist Kosovo Government in providing material support from international organisations and institutions during the COVID-19 period.

“They are authorised to contact private and public sector entities, as well as international organs to provide support to the Republic of Kosovo in terms of corruption”, said the decision signed by former Minister Emilia Redzepi.

Government authorisation Kurti for two suspicious businessmen

Following the signing of former MAPL minister is suspected to stand by Deputy Prime Minister Haki Abazi. This has meant former Minister Redzep in a telephone conversation with Gazeta Insander on Thursday.

She has said the two entrepreneurs have been in “directly match” with Abbas until the moment of engagement by the Government of Kosovo.

“They are from Croatia and have been willing to help Kosovo. They are in contact with Croatia's Embassy and directly with Deputy Prime Minister Haki Abbasin”, Redzepi has said of Inseder.

Redzep did not reveal Hakki Abbas' possible connections to Michael Glazer and Dragan Gregurecin. She said she personally knows one of the two businessmen.

I personally know Dragan Gregurecin because he has a lot of connections to USAID in Croatia and insisted on helping? “Haki Ahaz probably via e-mails [is included], even he knew those people before or then, I don't know”.

The former head of the Ministry of Management and Local Powers has said the deal Hakki Abazi allegedly postponed has been signed urgently.

The situation then was urgent and all the help we needed, for me it's good”, Redzep said.

But, Hakki Abazi denies that he has ever met the two businessmen committed by the Kurti Government, even though former MAPL minister involves him in the process of engagement of Glazer and Gregurec.

I've been notified by Mrs. Rexhepi. I haven't met them and I don't know any of these people, and we don't have any contractual ties as government”, Abazi said of the Insander Journal.

According to the former government's number three, Kurti, the two businessmen have willingly offered assistance to the Government of Kosovo.

They have offered Mrs. Rexhepi at the time of the pandemic and since Croatia has led the EU presidency, they have also offered support to Kosovo”, he has declared.

For the deal's procedures, Insander has requested clarification from Ministry of Management and Local Power Secretary Rosafa Ukimeraj, but has not received answers to the questions she sent to her address Thursday.

About Michael Glazer burden doubts about business ties with Slovenian politicians

Public data and the background of Michael Glazer, the director of SEE Regional Advisors Ltd., stirs doubts about the reasons for his commitment to the service of the Government of Kosovo.

He is known in Slovenia for links to politicians and former senior state officials, close to former Slovenia Prime Minister Miro Cerar.

In 2014, the newspaper Siol in Slovenia reported how Michael Glazer, in December 2013, had purchased Oeconomus from Alexander Keshelevic, former political adviser to Miro Cerari.

After the sale, this company had changed its name and address several times, reports the online newspaper.

Interestingly, however, the company moved exclusively to the addresses associated with the company owned by Marian Groff, a businessman who in the past had been sentenced to five and a half years in prison because of his business.

In a response to this article, Glaser had denied his ties with Slovenian politicians and with the businessman sentenced to prison.

Another link between Glazer and the government of Miro Grari in Slovenia is that with former Economy Minister Jozef Petrovic.

Glaser, according to Siol.net's report, had founded the Zagreb Auctor company é, which deals with the sale of valuable letters, and in 2013 bought 11 percent of another company, which Petrovic took on immediately after the purchase.

Government Kurti entrusted Croatian engineer with COVID-19 funds

“Alpha-Enginering”, the firm owned by Dragan Gregureci, the other businessman engaged by the Kurti Government, deals with activities similar to the interests Haki Abazi has already defended for years.

This company deals with gas and oil distribution and energy sector activities.

The same activities have long been taken up by Hakki Abazi.

Former Zev/Prime Minister has co-founded and led KOSID, a consortium of civil society organisations in Kosovo that has been addressing energy issues for years.

This co-led project by Ahaz has threatened the need for alternative energy sources in Kosovo.

By contrast, Hakki Abazi is known as the main opponent of the construction of Thermocentral plant “New Kosovo” in Kosovo.

Abazi, who for about ten years has led millions of funds to Kosovo of the “Rockfeller Brothers Fund”, had named “cancer of citizens” project for the thermal power plant.

COMM Abazi-led SID had launched campaigns against this thermal power plant.

In August last year, the former director of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund joined the Vetevendosje Movement évendosje organisation that has also sharply opposed the “New Kosovo project” to appoint Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister in the government Kurti six months later.

A few weeks after Vetevendosje Movement and Haki Abazi's rise in power, New Kosovo's “thermal power project was canceled.

The company that had won the project contract, Contour Global, on 17 March halted plans to build 500 megawatt power plant
