A weekly dose of olive oil may be better than Viagra to help increase male performance in the bedroom, suggests new studies.
Scientists from the University of Athens say only nine tablespoons of olive oil are enough to reduce the imposing by about 40 per cent.
Olive oil has numerous health benefits, including healthy blood vessels and the preservation of circulation throughout the body.
A study of 660 men with an average age of 67 found that those who adopted a Mediterranean - style diet rich in fruits and vegetables, legumes, fish and nuts, as well as olive oil, had much less problems and even saw a broad improvement in their ability to have intimate relations.
Olive oil can also help increase testosterone levels, which reduce the risk of inaction failure, which is the inability to get and hold a sufficient meeting for sex.
According to doctors, one out of five British men over 40 in the United Kingdom suffers from erection problems. Fatigue, anxiety, and heavy drinking are just some of the factors that contribute.
Chief researcher Dr Christina Chrysohoo said diets and exercises were key to improving high-aged sex skills and older men.
“Bours that follow a Mediterranean diet especially by consuming a lot of olive oil, see their risk of imposing decreases to 40 percent”, it says.
She added that small lifestyle changes could prove more useful for those seeking a long-term solution. While Viagra, created in the 1990s and now available without prescription at the pharmacy, has helped the sexual life of millions of people, side effects include headaches, back pain and visual concern.
This diet keeps the blood vessels healthy and reduces the risk of metabolic syndrome, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and central overweight.
It offers men a long - term solution without taking any medicine, such as Viagra.
Viagra doesn't improve anything long-term. It can only produce a short effect in order to have sexual skills”, says Dr Christina Chrysow.
Julie Ward, of the British Heart Foundation, supported this discovery, saying: It is no wonder that the Mediterranean diet, which we know is beneficial for heart and circulation health, can help men to maintain healthy sexual function.
